The overall landscape design combines the artistic urban style and focuses on the major themes of “nature, nobility, elegance and beauty” to create a residential landscape space with unique humanistic and artistic experience.

Mulan River is located in Putian City of the Fujian Province; it flows from west to east into the sea and is called “Mother River” by the local people. It is a geographical river that flows naturally, and it is also a population migration line, which has witnessed the migration process of the Fujian people. The tidal section of Mulan River can be traced from the mouth of the sea to the water conservancy project “Mulan po” built in the Song Dynasty, which is the main stream in the lower reaches of Mulan River. This segment of the river has a meandering shape, connected to the pulse of the sea, and the rhythm of the sea, rising and falling every day, as does the ever gushing of river water.

The theme of our design is to integrate the shape of the “mother river” of the people of Putian, the dynamics of flowing water and the historical and cultural connotations it is endowed with, and integrate it into the project landscape through artistic techniques to create a living space of modern art with unique local characteristics and emotional belonging. We hope to take the unique Mulan River culture and impression art as the foundation, combine the design of landscape moving lines, and implant the experience of “tourism” into the landscape language system, as well as fantasizing the surround space, that is, each space has an independent theme, presenting the overall design with poetic manner, giving people the artistic feeling of being in the “Mother River”.

The overall landscape structure consists of “two axes”, “two fields”, “two courtyards” and “multiple nodes”. As we gradually enter each space from the entrance, it is like following a guided tour through galleries with different themes, and you can feel nature while appreciating art.

The main entrance combines the unique cultural connotation of Mulan River, combines the texture, water flow line and shape of the stream with sculpture, and creates an entrance space with a unique sense of belonging, ritual and artistic atmosphere through artistic techniques. The ceiling aluminum plate of the entrance porch adopts imported baking paint technology, with aluminum plates going through customized processing, the ceiling implements an organized sewing style drainage technology, the walls have angled cuts into them to create a themed lighting system to create a light and atmospheric drop off environment.

The characteristic waterscapes of the two entrances are designed by combining the shape of the long-established Mulan dike and the turbulent water flow dynamics. The mirrored waterscape as the main and the overlapping water as a complement. The sparkling water surface and the sculptures made of FRP seamless forging technology are designed to further add radiance and beauty to complement each other. The sculpture on the waterscape was finally determined after more than ten rounds of research, discussion and revision. With the intention of “Mother River”, it evoked the nostalgic resonance deep in the audience’s memory and set off the atmosphere of welcoming guest’s home.
