BTi was part of the Plenary Justice team for Thunder Bay Consolidated Courthouse project located in Thunder Bay’s downtown core. This new courthouse has been designed to include the province’s first Aboriginal Settlement Conference Room, meeting the needs of the region’s Aboriginal population. The civic plaza serves as a ceremonial space leading to the front entrance. Materials, such as the granite paving and plant species are reflective of this north of Superior region and reinforce the image of the Courthouse as an enduring, fundamental institution. A rhythm of stainless steel security bollards and concrete seat walls arc through this space and continue as a design element in the landscape of the entire site.
